SUMMARY:URBAN FUTURE Global Conference
DESCRIPTION:4 themes – 40 sessions – exciting discussions \nKnowing what to do in order to reduce your city’s climate impact is one thing. Knowing HOW to do it\, however\, is a completely different story. Next March more than 1\,500 City Changers from 300+ cities in 50 countries meet at the largest such event to exchange their experiences on how to make change happen. Be one of them. \nAnyone working on climate issues within organizations or cities faces similar challenges. It’s relatively simple to find out what should be done to reach certain goals. However\, the challange seems to be how to actually do it. In fact\, this seems to be the KEY question and it is often very frustrating to see how slow change is happening or how little is actually changing. \n„How can I really make change happen?“ is probably the most commonly asked question of experts working on sustainability issues in a city. \nCity Changers shape their cities’ future\nLike yourself\, there are many experts around the world who work on similar sustainability issues\, in similar organizations … and must overcome similar challenges. \nThey come from cities of all sizes and are experts from all levels in a wide variety of fields\, ranging from mobility\, public administration\, housing\, energy and resources to communications\, social inclusion\, resilience and change management. What they all have in common is their will to make cities better places and their vast amount of valuable experience in making change happen. \nTap into the experience of hundreds of City Changers\nWhat if you had all the experience in making change happen that experts like you have made in hundreds of cities across the globe? What if they shared their success factors and you knew all about their mistakes and how they fixed them. Would that make a difference to you? And to your city? \nJoin the world’s largest meeting of City Changers\nThis is exactly what happens at the upcoming URBAN FUTURE Global Conference. Join us and more than 50 international organizations at the world’s largest meeting of City Changers: for 2 days\, more than 1\,500 enthusiastic City Changers from 300+ cities in 50+ nations share their insight and experience in making cities more sustainable. \nMeet the people who make change happen\nClose to 200 speakers from 4 continents talk about how they enable change. SUMMARY:Exhibition Culture Interface at Cité du design
DESCRIPTION:Whilst science fiction buffs were dipping into the history of the science fiction film and celebrating the return of Marty McFly and Doc in «Back to the Future» on 21 October 2015\, the Cité du Design in Saint-Étienne will be inaugurated a unique exhibition dedicated to the links between digital design and science fiction under the curatorship of a world renowned expert: Nicolas Nova. This exhibition also features a demonstration area where visitors will be able to try out digital interfaces for themselves. \n  \n \n \n  \nNicolas Nova\, curator of the exhibition\, examines the way science fiction and interface design influence each other. The exhibition is aimed in particular at all lovers of digital technology and science fiction… Minority Report\, Back to the Future 2\, Avatar\, 2001\, Iron man\, Star Trek are just some of the many films that feature technological objects. Some of them do not yet exist\, others are part of our daily lives already. Virtual reality headsets\, connected gloves\, mobile phones\, gestural interfaces\, connected objects\, brain-computer interfaces\, etc. a large part of these\ncreations\, in the way they control machines seem to have been designed with fictional objects in mind\, originating in imaginative cultures\, and more specifically in science fiction (films\, literature\, cartoon books). «I’d like to show that designers are also capable of freeing themselves from the stereotypes and proposing singular creations that in their turn refresh these great fictional models\,» emphasises Nicolas Nova. \nCurator: Nicolas Nova \nSee more at: http://presse.citedudesign.com/press-kit-culture-interface-numerique-et-science-fiction/#sthash.Z1N9chV1.dpuf
